TMD Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction Syndrome

CENTRIC RELATION NEWPORT SPLINT

TMD Treatment falls within the domain of the speciality of dentistry called prosthodontics. TMD is a painful disorder that is frequently improperly diagnosed and unsuccessfully treated. Most cases when detected early can be successfully treated with a Newport Occlusal Splint. Chronic severe cases may require a multidisciplinary approach with auxilliary treatment provided by a range of other health professionals coordinated by a prosthodontist. Dr Wright is an American Board Certified Specialist in Reconstructive Dentistry so there is a limit to the number of TMD cases whom he is able to treat due to time restraints.

NEWPORT OCCLUSAL SPLINT

NEWPORT BLUE SPLINT

Dr. Wright developed the Newport Occlusal Splint whilst in Graduate School at the University of Southern California, the birthplace of Gnathology, whilst studying Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction Syndrome. He was determined to develop a design of splint that was effective, therapeutic and comfortable for the patient to wear. Dr. Wright personally fabricates each Newport Splint for his patients. The design is complex and unique and has been successfully used since 1998. Patients whom Dr Wright designates as being suitable candidates for treatment will begin feeling some relief within three to four weeks and full benefit within three months. Due to the nature of the muscle spasm and splinting some adjustments are necessary as the muscles start to relax.
