SINUS ELEVATION PROCEDURE

The maxilla (upper jaw) contains hollow spaces called sinuses. The sinuses are located bilaterally in the posterior region of the maxilla. Bone rapidly becomes resorbed following tooth loss and the sinuses expand through a process called pneumonisation resulting in further internal resorption. There is a limit to the width of cortical bone that can be grafted to a resorbed maxilla. In such cases, it is possible to raise the floor of the sinus and graft a bone substitute into the void created. After this grafted has matured, we can then place dental implants .....
